Season One of Heathers premiered on October 25, 2018. All nine episodes were made available online a week ahead of the premiere date.

It was scheduled to premiere on March 7, 2018. Due to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Paramount decided to postpone the premiere out of sensitivity to the victims and their families until July 10. On June 1, 2018, the Paramount Network's parent company Viacom Media Networks decided that the series would not go forward due to it's content. However, on October 4, 2018, it was decided to just drop the tenth episode and go ahead with the series.

Due to a mass shooting in Pittsburgh, the seventh and eighth episodes of the series were not aired because they contained a school shooting storyline. The ninth episode aired as planned.
