Goodbye, Old Paint is the thirty-fourth episode of the first season of Gilligan's Island.

Plot Overview

The Castaways discover an Old Painter on their Island.Duvov is his name.He considers himself the Worlds greatest Painter.Duvov has been on the Island for some time,and claims to have a Radio that he has never used.Duvov offers to give the Radio to the Castaways,to contact Civilization, if they Cow tow to his every weem.The Castaways do as Duvov requests,but in time they grow tire of his weems.To get Duvov to give the them the Radio,the Castaways work on his ego.If Duvov believes that another Painter is better than he is,Duvov would get so jealous that he would give the Radio freely to get rid of whoever he feels as a threat to his ego.Gilligan is chosen as the great Artist.With the Castaway fonning over Gilligan's Art Paintings Duvov does get envious,and resentful.However,he has a sleight spark of admiration for Gilligan,in that he wants Gilligan to teach him his style,in exchange for giving the Castaways his Radio to contact Civilization.Gilligan works with Duvov teaching him his style.As promised Duvov gives the Castaways his Radio transmitter to make contact with Civilization.The Skipper attempts to make contact when the speaker wire comes loose.While trying the fix the wire,the whole Radio comes apart.The Radio was actually an old type that Duvov has had on the Island for years,and has since corroded.There is a note inside the Radio,a message to the Castaways from Duvov.It says that he has used the Canvasses to make a Raft that will take him back to Civilization,and if he should decide to return,he will.Of course the Castaways do not believe the note since Duvov believing Gilligan is a better Painter/Artist than he is will not return,nor alert anybody about the Castaways being stranded,leaving Civilization to believe him to be the World Greatest Artist.
