Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a British comedy series spoofing a 1980s era horror program. It is supposedly conceived and written by famed horror writer Garth Marenghi, who is in fact a fictional character created by comedian Matthew Holness. The actual plot revolves around a group of people in a hospital situated over the gates of Hell, who must now take up arms to defend themselves and the world. The program is deliberately cheesy and is bookended by interviews with the show's "creators" who believe Darkplace to be better than it actually is.
