Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a British comedy series spoofing a 1980s era horror program. It is supposedly conceived and written by famed horror writer Garth Marenghi, who is in fact a fictional character created by comedian Matthew Holness. The actual plot revolves around a group of people in a hospital situated over the gates of Hell and the strange phenomenon that is unleashed. Deliberately cheesy and bad, the show is interjected with interviews from Marenghi, his producer Dean Learner and actor Todd Rivers who laud the show's quality and how it was too radical for its time.
The show was followed by the equally short-lived spin-off series Man to Man with Dean Learner.
