- Opening Caption: Filmed On Location
- First Appearance: This episode marks the first appearance of Amy's parents. Also appearing for the first time is LaBarbara, Hermes' wife.
[edit] Behind the Scenes
- Casting: The producers of the show originally attempted to get Leonardo DiCaprio to play himself in a scene where they traditionally dedicate the ship. However, he was busy so instead they took his head in a jar and smashed it against the side of the boat like a bottle of champagne.
- Original Draft: Originally in this episode, there was an intelligent slot machine that always made Bender lose which inevitably sacrificed himself in the black hole.
[edit] Allusions and References
- Titanic': Most of the episode references the Titanic, particularly the scenes involving Bender and the Countess, including the name of the ship, the Leonardo DiCaprio cameo, Bender drawing the Countess nude and the inevitable crashing of the ship.
- Love Boat: The bartender on the Titanic, iZac, is a reference to a similar looking bartender on the Love Boat, a sitcom that aired during the 1970s about a luxury romantic cruise line. The bartender on that ship was named, obviously, Isaac.
- Three's Company: Fry sings the theme song to Three's Company when he's told to "plant one on his woman" and must decide whether he should kiss Leela or Amy.
