Lindsay is one of the smartest students at her school, McKinley High, where she is a sophomore. She is Sam's sister - the siblings belong to a fairly well off and caring suburban family. The series charts her transformation from a model student to one of the 'Freaks', a group that are heavily into music, drinking, getting stoned, and generally having a good time.
Lindsay is an intellectual who constantly questions the status quo and refuses to blindly follow the path she is expected to take. She is uncertain as to what she wants to do with her life. Her dissatisfaction with her life leads her to seek out something different - the Freaks. She slowly bonds with them, taking tentative steps into their world and embracing their lifestyle. This puts her at odds with her teachers, her old friends, and her family, who worry that she is throwing away her future.
