Behind the Scenes
- Strike Endrun: At the time of the WGA strike, several episodes of Family Guy were near completion and only needed some post-production work, mainly audio mixing and editing. However, Seth MacFarlane announced publicly that he would not be working on the show for the duration of the strike as a sign of solidarity. He publicly asked FOX to not finish the episodes without his blessing and made vague threats about his relationship with the network if they went forward with them. In the end, they completed several episodes, "Padre de Familia" being the first one.
- Cut Joke: In the original broadcast of this episode on FOX, a scene was cut which followed Lois saying Peter "didn't even know what 9/11 was until 2004." The cut scene showed Lois crying on the couch until Peter entered the room and said "must have been a woman pilot." This scene was restored to the episode when the episode was broadcast on Adult Swim on January 13, 2008.
