Plot Overview

During the night shift at County General, Mark bends the rules to care for a woman with meningitis who refuses treatment and he later gets intimate with Chuny; Doug and Carol take care of Charlie after she comes to the ER badly beaten; Carol tries to find a solution to the hospital's budget issues which could affect the nursing staff; Weaver talks Jeanie into helping her out with a study about the effect of exercise on night-shift workers; after Benton gives Gant a hard time, Gant goes to Anspaugh; towards the end of the episode, the doctors treat a man who threw himself in front a train and are shocked when they learn that the man's identity is Dr. Gant.
