Trivia

The Show

  • The serial has often been considered to be a reworking of the first Dalek serial The Daleks.
  • While not recognised as a two-parter of sorts, this serial picks up from the storyline that had begun in Frontier in Space.

Behind the Scenes

  • This was Terry Nation's writing contribution to the shows since 1965. As such, he was unaware that the series had dropped individual episode names. Thus he had given the episode's the titles "Destinus", "Mission Survival", "Pursued", "Escape or Die", "The Day Before Eternity" and "Victory".
  • One Dalek props used was one of four Daleks privately owned by Nation and loaned and allowed to be modified for use as the Supreme Dalek. He was given four Dalek props after filming of the non-canon Doctor Who film Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., and the Supreme was recycled out of the Gold Dalek from the film.
  • Nation named the character of Rebec after his own daughter Rebecca.
