Plot Overview

Music

  • "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones: The song that plays as Dexter is entering the bar where his mother's killer works is "Gimme Shelter," the lead song off Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones. The song was written during the Vietnam War where violence was everywhere. In an interview, Mick Jagger summarized by saying "that's a kind of end-of-the-world song, really. It's apocalypse; the whole record's like that." The song, incidentally makes an overt reference to murder and serves as foreshadowing in the scene.
