Plot Overview

A government official summons Torello to a meeting and tells him of an important witness he should know about...Ray Luca, who has been granted immunity by the government. Torello is naturally enraged by the news and is warned not to harass Luca in any way. Abrams takes the situation to court, arguing that Luca's crimes make him a menace to society, and he rattles off a short list of people killed by Luca, including his father, which leads Luca's lawyer to point out that Abrams is acting out of revenge, and the judge orders Abrams and the members of the Task Force to stay at least 1,000 feet away from Luca. Torello tries to shake down Pauli to find out why Luca has immunity, but the loyal flunky won't talk, and he also tries to reach out to Goldman one more time, only to be rebuffed there. Kordo, worried that Luca will come after him and try to regain his position, calls on his friends in the Kansas City mob for help, only to be told by the retired mobster who arrives in Vegas that if anything happens to Luca, he'll be the next victim. Abrams informs the Task Force that he's quitting. Torello fears that he'll go after Luca and arrives just in time to save the mobster. Luca tells Torello that he just saved his life, to which Torello replies that it wasn't his life that he saved, but that of David Abrams.

Memorable Moments

  • Torello carjacks Pauli and offers to break in Pauli's new Cadillac for him. Torello smashes the back end of the car a few times into a dumpster, all the while asking Pauli why the Government is granting Luca immunity, but the flunky won't talk, just yelling at Torello for damaging his car.
  • Abrams breaks into Luca's house and disarms his two bodyguards. He's got a gun trained at Luca and is ready to shoot when Torello and his team break the front door down. He throws a vase at the lawyer's arm as the gun goes off, deflecting what surely would have been a fatal shot.
