Nene Sakurada is a character from the Japanese animated series, Crayon Shin-chan.

Basic Information

Nene Sakurada is another classmate at the Futaba Kindergarten. She is very bossy, and usually makes her friends play her games. One of those games is 'real omamagoto', or 'real house', which is the typical kids' game of "playing house," except with real-life situations like taxes and divorce wedged in. Another game Nene likes to play is 'queen of the queendom.'

Nene has anger management problems, which she takes from her mother. Like her mother, she takes out her frustrations on a inanimate objects like a stuffed bunny. Nene often sees her mother go crazy, to which she exclaims a phrase literally translated to "You're not my usual mom!"

In the Vitello and Phuuz dubs, Nene retains the same personality traits, but goes by the slightly modified name Nini.

North American

In the FUNimation adaptation, Nene is named Penny. Her family's situation, which is stress and anger problems, is magnified in this version into an abusive household. Penny's mother makes indications to being beaten by her husband. Their family is also made considerably poorer.

Penny thinks Jessica Simpson is cute, and Ashley Simpson is chubby and untalented. She also thinks Maso is gay.
