Basic Information

Action Kamen, which translates literally to Action Mask, is Shin's favorites superhero. Shin obsesses over him and never misses his TV show and buys his products, such as his line of sausage. Shin always laughs along with Action Kamen's triumphant laughter whenever he defeats a villain.

Some of Action Kamen's villains consist of people costumed as food-items. His young sidekick is Mimiko Sakura, who always conveniently gives Kamen new devices or instructions for new moves to defeat the enemy, in a very contrived manner.

Foreign Language Differences

Europe/South America

In the Shin Chan dubs by Vitello and Phuuz, which was dubbed in several languages adapted from one version, Action Kamen is known as Masked Muchacho, meaning "masked boy." He is voiced by Patrick Fraley in the English version. In Spanish version, Action Kamen is known as "Ultrahéroe", and in Galicia version, he is known as "Ultraheroe".

North America

In the Shin Chan adaptation from FUNimation Entertainment, Action Kamen is known as Action Bastard, a name thought up by writer Evan Dorkin. His moves and weapons are also named similarly, such as his Bastard Belt, and Bastard Beam. He often tries to sell products on his show to his viewers, such as his fighting guide, and will attempt to scare the viewers into buying it. For example, he may tell the kids watching that it's their fault if the world ends tomorrow. His sidekick is also renamed to Lollipop. He is voiced by Troy Baker.

Trivia

  • In the FUNimation dub, one of Action Bastard's sidekick Lollipop's possible names was "Jail Bait."
