Plot Overview

Two high school students, a boy and a girl, flee a motel room where a fatal shooting occurred. The girl claims that the dead man was a pervert who lured her there under false pretenses, and the boy claims he shot the man when he got aggressive. The victim turns out to be an investigative journalist doing an expose on sexual chat rooms and teenage girls. Annabeth delves into the background of both kids and discovers that they were running a sexually explicit chat room that featured classmates of theirs doing sexual deeds and goes after both of them on murder charges. While she nets a big win with this case, not only shutting down a sexually explicit chat room and gaining evidence against numerous sexual predators, nothing can prepare her for a huge personal loss...her husband Jack is killed when a drunk driver strikes his car.
