Plot Overview
A man who's the neighborhood freak is arrested for the senseless killing of a neighbor. Evidence seized during the arrest indicates that he may also be responsible for a pair of additional kidnap/murders, to which he readily confesses. Due to the nature of the arrest (a question of whether the arresting officers had reason to enter the house), the defense attorney is able to get some of the evidence thrown out, leaving Annabeth with nothing but circumstantial evidence. Another shocking revelation--one of his alleged kidnap/murder victims turning up alive and well--arises before Annabeth can connect the two victims, not to the suspect, but to the suspect's mother, whom he lives with.
