Sam's old friend writes a book, and Sam agrees to let him use the bar for some publicity events before reading the book. When the day arrives, we learn that the book is about Sam's former teammate coming out of the closet. When the gang at the bar sees all the publicity for a gay book being conducted at Cheers, they fear it will turn their beloved bar into a hangout for gay men.
