Character shield
From The TV IV
Character shield refers to the imaginary shield that protects important characters in certain programs from dying. Star Trek: Enterprise was particularly notable for employing the character shield. The titular ship would take massive damage and remain intact, while other ships would be destroyed in the blink of an eye.
