The Heavens Will Rise is the seventeenth episode of the first season of Caprica.

Plot Overview

As the "Avenging Angels" change code inside New Cap City, Daniel is able to track them down, but an early snafu in trying to reach out to Zoe leave the Graystones to enter the game only under its strict rules. With only one chance, Daniel asks help from Sam who has no interest in disturbing his brother's peace of mind.

Clarice's plan for apotheosis is threatened as Duram continues to employ Amanda under the GDD's radar.

On Gemenon, Lacy discovers that the U-87 robots respond to her commands.

Happenings

• Daniel is able to track Zoe and Tamara as they change code. Daniel overrides a lockout to access a backdoor. He plucks Tamara to give Zoe a message, but Zoe finds him and derezes him, leaving them now only the one way in. Daniel contacts Sam to help into helping survive in New Cap City, but he refuses. However, Evelyn convinces him to seeing how prominent the Avenging Angels are and that it's only a matter of time before Joseph learns Tamara is still alive. He then takes up the offer on the guise of needing the money.

• Daniel mentions that he is working on an improved design models for a mechanical body for Zoe, which would include artificial skin.

• Clarice has staged for the bombing of the Atlas Arena with Nestor having it rigged to trigger the resurrection program for the martyrs.

• Duram has Amanda find Clarice's holoband and swap it out with an identical make. Clarice, Nestor, and Olaf learn that it's been switched and they realise Mar-Beth was innocent while it was Amanda who was the spy. They set out to find it, but with only 24 hours until the bombing.

• An unknown sniper shoots Duram. Amanda gets him to an ER where she left as he was stabilised, but there's no trace of Clarice's holoband that she had just given him.

• The Holy Mother reaches out to Diego about Lacy's command of the Cylon and implies that Lacy should meet an accident during her training. Sealing the implication, she then presents Diego with the ring once worn by Obal Ferras.

• Fidelia Fazekas has recently gotten out of jail on probation. She reunites with Joseph and they briefly kiss, but he breaks it, referring to their past affair as a mistake. Checking things for the Guatrau, she notices a couple out of every 24 of the U-87s being shipped to the military don't make it. He fabricates an excuse and she assures him that it's probably no big deal and that the Guatrau trusts him.

• Amanda reveals to Daniel her work as Duram's CI.

• Lacy learns that the U-87s respond to her commands. She asks for Zoe, but doesn't get a response that would indicate there's any remnant of her in any of them.

• Odin clearly has an attraction to Lacy due to his sexual fantasy on the holoband. She later kisses him.

• Daniel explains to Amanda how Zoe would be upset at him for exploiting her fear of fire to try to flush her out of the U-87 ("Ghost in the Machine").

• Carmen Moore appeared in a couple of instalments of the Battlestar Galactica the web series "The Resistance" as Sister Tivenan.

• Amanda makes mention of a practitioner named Cottle. This appears to be a reference to Doc Cottle.
