Breaking Bad is a drama that airs on AMC. The series stars Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher with a handicapped child and a pregnant wife. When White is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he sets up a crystal meth lab with the aid of a former student and becomes wrapped up in a life of crime.
Originally, Breaking Bad was pitched to FX. Although the network reportedly liked the pilot, executives ultimately passed because they were concerned about whether or not advertisers would be willing to pay for spots during such a controversial show.
