Blankety Blanks is the Australian version of the U.S. Match Game which launched in 1962 on NBC and was revived in 1973 on CBS. Blankety Blanks followed the premise of the CBS show.
Two contestants have two chances to predict how a panel of six celebrities filled in the blanks to comical questions. The contestant capturing the most celebrities wins the game and plays the Super-Match, which had the audience match values at $1000, $500 and $250. Whatever is won is multiplied by ten and becomes the potential jackpot to be won by matching one celebrity head-to-head in a final fill-in-the-blank question.
The United Kingdom version of the show was more successful, running from 1979 to 1990 and again from 1997 to 2002. Two later Australian revivals were less successful.
