Originally aired as one of six drama pilots ordered by BBC Three as a part of the channel's "pilot season" (the others being Phoo Action, Mrs In-Betweeny, West 10 LDN, The Things I Haven't Told You, and Dis/Connected) Being Human was eventually picked up as a series. However, as the parts of Mitchell, Annie, Herrick and Lauren were all re-casted, and the character of Julia was written out, the only cast members to return for the series was Russell Tovey (George) and Dylan Brown (Seth). Because of the cast changes, several plotlines being reworked, and some change in tone, producer Matthew Bouch regards the series to be "kind of a reboot" of the pilot. However - head writer Toby Whithouse has stated that he does consider the pilot to be a part of the series continuum.
