- Moved to Dallas, Texas when he was 8 years old
- He studied acting at the Dallas Young Actors Studio.
- Moved to Burbank, California when he was 15 years old and was immediately given a six-month contract to star on "Days of Our Lives"; returned to Texas after his contract expired.
- Graduated from Richardson High School in 1992.
- Was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in 2002; as of 2003, the cancer is in remission.
- Married his first wife, Laura Payne-Gabriel in November of 1997; divorced in 2002
- Married his second wife, Tracy Huston in July of 2006; they have two sons: Oliver (born in May of 2005) and Felix (born in November of 2007); divorced in 2011
