Plot Overview

Alice came down to the kitchen early in her student nurse's uniform as Mary fussed over Russ's breakfast and Jim rustled his paper. Everyone was surprised when Alice revealed the plan to help Missy leave Danny. Mary was shocked Missy was never aware that Bill was looking for her, and Jim felt it shouldn't be taken for granted that Danny would give her a divorce. Mary almost visibly sagged as Dru phoned to relay the news of Danny's death. Dru and John tried to placate Pat's fears about being questioned by the police. The bell rang as Dru told John his fear that Missy will be accused. Bill told them that an unscrupulous man like Danny must have made plenty of enemies along the way, and John warned him not to keep mouthing off about Danny. In a borrowed dressing gown, Missy nestled in Bill's arms while he promised everything would be alright, but John and Dru exchanged looks which indicated they were not so sanguine. Alice wasn't sympathetic when Mary remarked that Liz sounded like she was coming apart at the seams. As Russ and Alice left for Memorial, Mary told Jim she had the feeling Danny was going to reach back from the grave somehow. Missy described coming back to the room and finding Danny's body. John and Dru exchanged an anxious look when she told of picking up the gun. Pat's eyes widened with fear when she looked through the panels alongside the door and saw a policeman outside.
