Plot Overview

Pat found John working late, and he claimed to have found a way for Missy to get a divorce under favorable conditions. Lee threw a jibe at Pat as over the phone John advised Bill not to call Missy. John described Bill's plan to them. Lee marched out of the room after refusing to listen to Pat. Harry followed Missy as she paced in a wobbly and somnambulistic fashion as the doctor examined Danny's body. Lt. Buckley and Sgt. Crawford questioned Harry. Irving the police photographer almost stumbled over Missy as he took shots of the corpse. Crawford outlined the body with chalk then dusted for prints. The maid became hysterical when Missy came out of her trance long enough to try to calm her self-pitying babbling. The police recognized Missy as the missing heiress they'd tried to find last year. Not feeling she needed a lawyer present, Missy spoke to Buckley, lying to protect Bill that she had been out for a walk alone when Danny was shot. Missy asked them to take her to the Randolphs.
