Yogi's Space Race was an umbrella title for a 90-minute animated series on NBC featuring several elements.

  • Galaxy Goof-Ups featured Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound along with three new characters--Scare Bear, Quack-Up Duck and Captain Snerdley (their addled superior) as bumbling galactic law enforcers.
  • The Buford Files is best described as a redneck Scooby Doo. Buford is a bloodhound and his human sidekicks are Woody and Cindy Mae.
  • The Galloping Ghost is Nugget-Nose, a pint-size gold prospector. His friends are two girls, Wendy and Rita.
  • Space Race is a galactic race competition pitting the cast against each other in different vehicles: Yogi Bear and Scare Bear, Huck Hound and Quack-Up, Nugget-Nose with Wendy and Rita, Jabberjaw and Buford, and the villains Phantom Phink and his dog Sinister Sludge (who, when will allows, will secretly turn into heroes Captain Good and Kleen Kat).

At mid-season, the show was fragmented into separate half-hour shows. The Buford Files and The Galloping Ghost segments were melded as Buford And The Galloping Ghost.
