Plot Overview
Christy Oeth and her husband, Michael run their family like a business as they juggle work (where Christy works as a controller at a money management firm and Michael trying to start his own tech company from home) and raising their four kids: 8-year-old James, 6-year-old Lauren, 2-year-old Molly and 15-month-old Delaney. With Christy's job and the family's busy schedule, the Oeths have implemented a strict time management system to make it through each day. With Michael working from home, he handles a lot of the household chores and has even devised a special computer program that maps out the fastest route through the supermarket, based on the items on the shopping list; he has even put the two youngest kids in daycare so he can work uninterrupted. Christy and Michael place a great deal of emphasis on their kids' education and prepare them for the future.
Christy swaps lives with Nancy Cedarquist of northern Vermont who live in a remote, three-story tree house that she and her husband, Keith built themselves; the family relies on solar panels, a small generator and candles to light & power their home. With Keith working at the local paper mill, Nancy is home tending to the house along with raising & homeschooling her six kids: 13-year-old Erik, 11-year-old Bryce, 8-year-old Bria, 6-year-old Riley, 4-year-old Kyler & 2-year-old Nolan. While Nancy is a disciplinarian, Keith has no control of the kids. The family believe in living for the moment instead of worrying about the future.
