Bruce plans to propose to Emma, despite not receiving a blessing from her father Birger and mother Viveka, who don't believe in marriage. Bruce pulls out all the stops with a grand romantic gesture, but things don't go according to plan. Meanwhile, Emma becomes an unknowing victim of an image posted online by Diane, the new head of marketing, who is tasked with turning around the bank's image.

Emma grows irritated with her boss Olof when he takes credit for her presentation to Hans, the company CEO. Elsewhere, Bruce adjusts to his self-appointed role as "the guy" in Stockholm, a local guide who can entertain visiting celebrities and show them the coolest things to do while in town. When Jason Priestley comes to Stockholm for the day, he enlists Bruce, who quickly discovers that Jason is only interested in learning more about Ingmar Bergman. Not wanting to lose his newfound title as "the guy," Bruce convinces Bengt to pose as one of Bergman's former assistant directors.

Emma invites Bruce to join her parents, Birger and Viveka, on their annual family ski trip. Bruce finds himself completely out of his element, while Emma, an accomplished skier, relives an old rivalry on the slopes. Back home, Gustaf looks for a new apartment after feeling pressure from Emma to move out and hits a few stumbling blocks in his search. Meanwhile, Bruce discovers news that his parents have plans to visit and help with the wedding arrangements.

Bruce's parents Wayne and Nancy come to town to help arrange the wedding. Later, Viveka grows envious of Emma and Nancy's close relationship after watching them bond while wedding dress shopping. Meanwhile, Birger and Viveka struggle to sell their summer home prompting Wayne to offer an opportunity.

Elsewhere, Bruce tries to cut down on saying "I love you" since Emma thinks it is too American to say it all the time and Gustaf masters the art of getting things for free.
