WLTZ signed on the air on October 29, 1970 as an NBC affiliate, WYEA, taking the NBC affiliation from WTVM which became a full-time ABC affiliate. WLGA was a CW affiliate also in Columbus, that station became an independent station while WLTZ-DT2 became an affiliate for The CW.
