WISN-TV is the call sign for the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It broadcasts on digital 34, displayed on tuners as virtual channel 12.
The station first went on the air October 27, 1954 as WTVW and took the ABC affiliation after WOKY was purchased by CBS after WCAN left the air. By 1956, it changed call letters to WISN after Hearst bought the station to pair it with the Milwaukee Sentinel (the paper would be sold to Journal in 1962). On April 2, 1961, WISN took the CBS affiliation from WITI due to having a sister AM station affiliated with CBS radio, which would last until March 27, 1977, when rejoined ABC after WITI's then owner Storer re-signed the station with CBS after ABC opted to take its affiliation away from then-sister station KCST/San Diego and moved it to rival KGTV in 1976. Since then WISN has become one of ABC's top rated outlets, which continues today.
