WDIV-TV is the NBC affiliate in Detroit, Michigan. It broadcasts on digital channel 45. The station operates the area's This TV affiliate on digital subchannel 4.2 and MeTV on 4.3.
WDIV began on June 3, 1947 with the call letters WWJ-TV and a secondary DuMont affiliation. In 1948, the station became a sole NBC affiliate, then added a secondary affiliation with the Paramount Television Network from 1953 to 1955. The station changed to its present call sign on July 22, 1978 due to being split off from then-sister radio stations WWJ and WWJ-FM in a trade to the Washington Post Company for the latter's Washington, DC station WTOP-TV (now WUSA). In 2006, WDIV added NBC Weather Plus called "Local4 Weather Plus", after the affiliation, WDIV replaced it with This TV.
