WAXN-TV is an Independent station in Charlotte, North Carolina (licensed to Kannapolis). The station broadcasts on digital channel 32 and is owned by Cox Media Group. Its sister station is ABC affiliate WSOC-TV channel 9.


WAXN first opened in 1994 as call letters WKAY as an Independent station. In 1996, the station's call letters were changed to the current WAXN-TV, the station has been an Independent station since its inception.

WAXN is Charlotte's "lighthouse station" for the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard. To maintain service to 1.0 receivers, WAXN transmits their 1.0 signal on WBTV's subchannel 23.7. WAXN's subchannels Get TV and Court TV Mystery are transmitted on the subchannel tier of sister station WSOC/channel 9 while retaining 64.2 and 64.3 as their virtuals. Laff TV (virtual 64.4) transmits on the subchannel tier of WCNC/channel 36.
