Variety Magazine is an entertainment trade publication first published in 1905. At its inception, it covered the business dealings of vaudeville. Since then, it has expanded to cover other facets of the entertainment industry as they have arisen, namely film and television.

Variety is best known for its slanguage, the unique language it employs in its headlines to condense long tidbits of information down to a few words.
