- Dawn's name in the show's French-language version, L'île des Défis Extrêmes, is Océane
- Dawn's appearance appears to be patterned after Luna Lovegood, a character in the Harry Potter series of books and their related films
- Dawn did not originally exist as a character during development of TDI's fourth season, Total Drama: Revenge of the Island (originally called Total Drama Reloaded). Her spot in that season was originally occupied by a different character named Molly (according to an interview with TDI cast member Caitlynne Medrek, [1] who had auditioned for Molly before being cast as Dawn). Molly appeared to be a Goth-like character, similar to Gwen. When TDRI eventually took its final form, Molly had been scrapped and replaced by Dawn
