Carlo, a coyote leaves his old home in the lowlands of California to escape human encroachment on his territory. He heads high into the mountains, into an area explored many years ago by naturalist John Muir. Chuck Watson scares away the hungry animal with a shotgun, and Carlo flees in fear of his life.
