- The Oceanside join the fight against the Saviors.
- The Saviors are defeated. Those who survive surrender and allowed to become part of the community.
Characters
- It's revealed that Eugene sabotaged the bullets and that this was why he adamantly returned to the factory to continue manufacturing them.
- Rick slices Negan's throat, but has Siddiq help him. Rick and Michonne are to see that he lives, but spend the rest of his life in prison as an example.
- Rick's decision enrages Maggie who wants to see him dead. She later conspires with Jesus and Daryl to bide their time and prove Rick wrong about keeping Negan alive.
- Daryl brings Dwight out in the middle of nowhere. Dwight assumes he's going to be killed, grieving for what he's done, but accepts his fate, satisfied he got to see Negan's downfall. Instead, Daryl gives him the key to a vehicle to look for Sherry, but promises to kill him if he sees him again.
- Jadis, who reveals her real name is Anne, takes up the offer to join the community.
- Morgan, still having trouble adjusting, leaves to be alone.

- The title of the episode is a juxtaposition to the season opener "Mercy", from Rick's quote "My mercy prevails over my wrath."
- The airing of this episode was immediately proceeded by the Season 4 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, using Morgan as the segue between the two.
- The episode happens to share the same title as a Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 episode.

Memorable Moments
- Negan prepares to trigger the Savior opening fire on the exposed community by shooting Gabriel. Instead, his gun backfires, as does the other Saviors, injuring or killing the majority.
- Rick slices Negan's throat with a glass shard. Appearing to let Negan die, he has Siddiq save his life.
- Rosita seems to forgive Eugene, but punches him for throwing up on her.
