Infected is the second episode of the fourth season of The Walking Dead, and the thirty-seventh episode overall.

After Patrick reanimates as a walker and causes a chaotic scene that leaves many of the prison's inhabitants dead, the remaining survivors hypothesize that a resilient flu strain may be spreading throughout the compound.

Plot Overview

After several residents are killed in a walker attack, it soon becomes apparent that there is a deadly illness spreading inside the prison. To make matters worse, a build up of walkers is weakening the fences.

Allusions and References

• The prison resident turned walker who turns on the cot and his guts spill out is a recreation of a scene from George A. Romero's Day of the Dead.
