The TV IV:Proposals/International Pages

There seems to be some discussion on how "international" this Wiki is. The intention for the site has always been to accept all television shows, American or otherwise. However, this brings up an interesting proposition: How should we square away information on international editions of products such as DVD articles?

1. My personal opinion is to have an "International" link underneath the "DVD Releases" header on the main showpage, with relevant links to the appropriate international DVD sets in each DVD article. The DVD Releases listed under the main page should be soley limited to DVDs coming from the country it's produced in. IE, Doctor Who DVDs from Britain belong in the main Doctor Who showpage and a listing of American R1 releases belong in a different article. Also, things like airdates should refer to the country in which the series was intended for originally. --Wizardryo 19:54, 13 Sep 2005 (EDT)

2. As far as "international" is concerned, what about non-english versions of TV IV? I know this is barely an issue at all currently with how new the wiki is, but how will that be handled down the line if this becomes extremely popular? Obviously I don't think anyone would be opposed to, for example, a spanish TV IV with the url es.tviv.org the same way that wikipedia does it. But what about, like you are saying, as far as DVD released, show times, etc? Should a show like Lost give the information for showtimes in the U.S. (where it is produced) or the showtimes for perhaps Spain, since that's a more common place where the readers would be watching from?    1. I suppose that French and Spanish will be the first languages to be supported after some success. But that requires to put in charge people native of those languages for those databases, cause each language require special conventions (most of shows got different Spanish dubs for Latin America and Spain, for example). --Atoon 18:10, 8 February 2006 (EST)
