Plot Overview
Jack Scully is something of a con man using his young friend, Reuben Miles, as a means of getting money. Reuben is a very fast gun but has something of a temper, particularly if he's told someone is saying anything nasty about him behind his back. When most people see the amiable and dim-witted Reuben, they can't quite see the fast gun Scully talks about and happily bet money against him. When they get to North Fork, Scully decides that Reuben should go against Lucas McCain, who has just won the annual sharpshooting contest. It's left to Lucas to show both Scully and Reuben a lesson.
