The Red Skelton Show was an award winning variety show that aired for twenty seasons. It featured Red Skelton, a radio host who made the successful transition to television. The show would start off with a monologue and then move into sketches featuring Skelton as a variety of characters. The show did not rely on guest appearances, although it had them, also. Johnny Carson got his start as a writer on the show.
