Plot Overview
While on vacation in Mexico, a senior editor and old friend of Dillon's is critically injured in a surfing accident and needs surgery. Dillon notices that a prominent doctor, a bone specialist, is also vacationing and persuades him to help his friend, but the friend dies of complications while on the operating table. After overhearing a nurse say that the man didn't have to die, Dillon goes back to the States and launches a probe of Dr. Evanhauer and discovers that behind the man's charming facade lies a maniac who's willing to commit murder, his sick rationale being that two lives can be sacrificed if it means saving hundreds of thousands.
