The Mask is an animated children's comedy program. It was based on the Jim Carrey-starring film The Mask (which, in turn is based on the comic book created by Mike Richardson).

Stanley Ipkiss is a meek, even-tempered bank clerk whose escape from the humdrum life is cartoons. Secretly, whenever something evil this way comes, he puts on the mask of Loki the mischief maker and becomes The Mask, a green-skinned, wise-cracking humanoid dressed in a yellow suit, performing through the laws of cartoon physics.

His unorthodox methods of heroics isn't appreciated by everyone, though--police detective Lt. Kellaway thinks he's a thug and tries to apprehend him, only to come up short. Besides Milo, the only person who knows Ipkiss' double identity is newspaper reporter Peggy Brandt.

In 1997, The Mask and fellow Jim Carrey vehicle spinoff Ace Ventura: Pet Detective did crossovers with each other. In The Mask, Ace is called after Stanley's pet Milo is dognapped. In the Ace Ventura episode, Ace and the Mask search for a missing space hamster.
