The Kennedys is an 8-episode political drama miniseries chronicling the lives of the famous Kennedy family and the tragedies they have suffered. The series was originally filmed for The History Channel, and would have been its first attempt at scripted television. However, on January 7, 2011, the cable channel announced that it would not air the program because "is not a fit for the History brand". It was later picked up by Reelz Channel, becoming the first scripted series to premiere on that channel.
