Behind the Scenes
According to Jonathan Etter's book, Quinn Martin, Producer, the role of Judith Sinclair was originally written for Bette Davis, who was a major fan of the show and begged the producers for an opportunity to appear on the show. However, all of the series' major guests were subjected to background checks by the FBI, as ordered by then-Bureau Director J. Edgar Hoover, and Miss Davis was rejected for the role. It seems that years ago, she was the prime suspect in the murder of her husband. Even though she was proven to have no role in the crime, she still was rejected for the role, which went to Ruth Roman.
