Plot Overview
Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property, Attempted Murder, Assault on Federal Officer
Two crooks steal a valuable religious artifact, the Cross of St. Croix, from a museum. One of them pays a visit to his former cellmate, now a gentleman farmer, who at first wants nothing to do with the stolen cross, but is badgered by his younger and materialistic wife to get involved. Once they get the thief out of the picture, they set out to find a metallurgist who can melt down the cross and retrieve the valuable jewels it holds, and Erskine must race to prevent that from happening.
