Plot Overview

Tony and Rachel worry about their friend Ed, who's still hurting after his divorce. A popular TV psychiatrist is nearly strangled to death, followed by a serious auto accident in which Ed is a victim, and then a near-fatal explosion that almost kills Ed's ex-wife's new boyfriend. Initially, there's suspicion that Ed's ex, Carol, is behind all the mayhem, but Tony finds evidence in Ed's apartment that suggests he cut his own brake line. Fearing that he may try to harm Carol next, Tony and Cyd race to her apartment, where Tony is stunned to meet Ed's alter ego, who's as dangerous as Ed is gentle. At the Precinct, Tony worries about Officer Bill Frawley, who's turned in a number of reports with typing errors, and at home, Tony and Rachel fret over their possible incompatibility after their answers on a magazine's marriage quiz don't match..
