Plot Overview
On the eve of his marriage to a beautiful interior decorator, Neil's bride-to-be takes her own life with an overdose of pills. Along with the body was an odd message in her handwriting, simply reading 'stalemate'. In trying to piece together just what happened, he talks with the members of her family, as well as his friend from college, who was engaged to her prior to her involvement with Neil, but mysteriously broke it off. His friend received the same message, 'stalemate', after they parted. The answer has something to do with something her deceased mother once told her.
