The Beagles is an animated musical comedy that aired on CBS.
Stringer and Tubby were the musical canine duo the Beagles. They were quite impoverished and would be put in outlandish publicity stunts by their agent Scotty. Two serialized episodes were featured each week with the middle feature elements from Underdog and Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales. A year later the episodes were transplanted to ABC under the series title The Beagles and Tennessee Tuxedo.
The title is ostensibly a tip of the hat to The Beatles, whose hit cartoon show had aired over the previous season on ABC (although given their choice of instruments shown above right, they seem to owe more to the Smothers Brothers). The Beagles would release an album of songs by Columbia records.
