The Banana Splits Adventure Hour is an animated comedy that aired on NBC.

The Banana Splits were live-action costumed figures--Fleegle (a dog, and the group's leader), Drooper (a lion), Bingo (a gorilla) and Snorky (an elephant who speaks only in honks). The Splits engaged in jokes and music while hosting other elements of the show. A soiree of purple pre-teen girls named the Sour Grapes Bunch would show up to give the Splits a hard time.

The other elements were Arabian Knights (a group of nomadic Arabian heroes battling a despotic ruler), the live-action serial Danger Island (a family of explorers followed and terrorized by pirates), The Three Musketeers (Dumas' heroes with a young Musketeer wannabe named Toulie), and Micro Ventures (irregular feature--a family is able to shrink down and explore nature).

In 1970, the series became syndicated and had revolving features--Atom Ant, Secret Squirrel, The New Adventures of Gulliver and The New Adventures of Huck Finn, as well as the Splits' own features pared down to a half hour. In 1972, the Splits were animated in the ABC Saturday Superstar Movie feature The Banana Splits In Hocus Pocus Park.
