Plot Overview

Justin and Reena wake up together. Joel is anxious for Dr. Evans to take off the bandages and tells the nurse he is waiting for someone to arrive. Lurlene tells Ruby today is the day she has to let Joel go. Justin talks Reena into being late for work. Judith tells Grant he is lucky to have found Vivien. Grant tells Judith he is going to see Joel today. Ruby tells Lurlene that Joel isn't weak or helpless and isn't with her out of dependence. Lurlene feels Joel will stay with her just so he won't hurt her feelings and she doesn't want that. Vivien tells Judith she is fond of John. Stella Stanton arrives and Vicky introduces her to Billy Joe, Reena and Hunt. Then, when they all leave, Stella makes a comment to Vicky about how beautiful Reena is and it's no wonder Justin Marshall left his wife. Mark gets Grant to agree to $10,000 for Ruby so that she will be under contract with World Oil even though they don't need a spokesperson. Then Ruby arrives. Vicky cautions Stella not to use gossip like that on the show. Stella tells Vicky that censorship won't work and she won't say anything that isn't true. Grant offers Ruby $10,000 and Ruby accepts. Then Ruby asks Grant not to see Joel because Lurlene is alone with him right now and the doctor is due back soon. Grant tells Ruby that Lurlene is lucky to have a friend like her. Lurlene arrives at Joel's room and both wait for the doctor. John tells Vivien how lucky he is to have found her. Reena asks George to come to work at KVIK and he says he will get back to her. Ruby visits with Joel and he begins to say how once he bandages are off it will be like a whole new world. Ruby stops Lurlene from saying anything foolish and asks to speak to her in the hall. Ruby tells her not to ruin the day for Joel and Lurlene decides she should leave. Stella talks to Billy Joe about his days in Huntsville and how he is dealing with Nita in New York. Stella tells Billy Joe that from what she hears, Nita is having quite a social life in New York. George visits Judith and tells her of his job offer at KVIK working with Reena Dekker. Ruby tells Kate that Lurlene walked out of Joel's room and that Lurlene feels like she has trapped Joel and asks her to please help find her. Kate then admits that maybe Ruby does really care for Lurlene. Reena tells Vicky she thinks Stella is a good idea but Vicky tells Reena that Stella knows of her affair with Justin and doesn't know how Stella will act. Reena tells Vicky that George may take the job. Judith doesn't like the idea of George working with Reena but he tells her he is going to. Kate finds Lurlene in the chapel and tells her that Joel does need her and always will. Dr. Evans begins to remove Joel's bandages and Joel thinks he can see light around the edges. Then Joel opens his eyes and calls out "Lurlene".
