Plot Overview

Billy Joe tells Nita he might be able to get Elena a gig and then tells Maggie he is reformed. Kate gives Elena her birthday gift and tells Jeb to look after her. Maggie tells Courtney that Jeb is bringing Elena to the surprise party. On the plane, Ryan questions Elliot's interest in Iris. At the Club, Billy Joe tells Dennis he is shocked he could propose to Paige when he was so drunk New Year's Eve. At Maggie's, Max and Reena tell Maggie, Striker and Vicky that they will marry next Monday. Dennis asks Paige if she lied to him about his proposing to her. Elliot gets mad when he learns that Ryan knows about Dennis being Alex's son. Paige admits to Dennis that she lied about his proposal but he says he will still marry her. Everyone surprises Elena at Maggie's. Courtney tells Bart that Jeb is the reason she and Kevin broke up and he tells her that Barrett is blocking something and they need to find out what it is. At the Top of the World Club Billy Joe and Jeb exchange words and then Billy Joe tells Elena he can get her a regular gig at the Chicken Coop. Iris tells Kevin and Ryan that she now believes Elliot tried to shoot Alex. Elena tells Jeb that tomorrow she is going to the Chicken Coop and get a job.

• When this episode aired a scene was interrupted by an NBC News Special Report about the release of the hostages with Bob Abernethy.
• Due to NBC News coverage of the Inauguration of President Reagan with John Chancellor and Roger Mudd, Texas will not be seen tomorrow but will return on Wednesday at its regularly scheduled time.
