Television is a medium in which to watch rapidly moving pictures on a screen. The word itself comes from the Greek for "far" ("tele") and Latin for "seeing" ("visus"). It can refer to the medium as a whole, the industry, or the receiver that transmits the signals to the audience at home (properly called a television set).
